15-yr-old kills mother in Vashi

A 15-year-old boy has been charged by the Vashi police with killing his mother, Anjana Gopale (42). He told the police that he was upset with constant squabbles in the family, and also felt that his mother paid more attention to his cousin than him.

A 15-year-old boy has been charged by the Vashi police with killing his mother, Anjana Gopale (42). He told the police that he was upset with constant squabbles in the family, and also felt that his mother paid more attention to his cousin than him.

The boy, a resident of Juhugaon in Vashi, used to assist his father, Shivaji, a small-time labour contractor, in his work. He has an elder brother and a younger sister. His maternal cousin too stayed with them. According to the police, Shivaji is an alcoholic.

Police said that after the murder on December 25, the boy brought his mother, who used to work as a maid, to the civic hospital in Vashi, at around 3 pm. He claimed that she had fallen while working and had received head injuries. The doctors declared her dead on arrival.

Following interrogation, police said, the boy broke down and confessed to his crime.
