A departmental promotion committee (DPC) meeting under the chairmanship of chief secretary PK Chaudhery will be held on Wednesday to consider the cases of IAS officers Arun Kumar, Mahavir Singh, Shiv Raman Gaur and Vivek Joshi (on central deputation).

While these IAS officers, on being promoted, will get remuneration equivalent to officers in the principal secretary rank, it is likely that they may not be able to function as principal secretaries for the time being and will probably head a board or corporation in the rank of the principal secretary.

Arun Kumar is currently posted as director general of state transport, while Mahavir Singh is posted as director general, food and supplies. Their batchmate Shiv Raman Gaur is posted as additional principal secretary to the chief minister (APSCM).

Vivek Joshi, the fourth 1989 batch Haryana IAS officer, is posted as joint secretary in the union ministry of women and child development and will get proforma promotion.

Shiv Raman Gaur, in fact, will be one of the very few IAS officers who would reach the level of principal secretary after getting inducted into the All-India Service from the state civil service.

The state government had in February also granted HAG to 1988 batch IAS officers - Tarun Bajaj and TVSN Prasad. The duo who were posted as managing director, Haryana State Industrial and Infrastructure Development Corporation and chief administrator of Haryana State Agricultural Marketing Board respectively, were asked to continue functioning on their present places of posting till further orders.
