2 killed, 15 hurt in bus-truck collision

TWO PERSONS were killed and over 15 injured in a head- on collision between a bus and a truck. The fatal accident took place on Sunday morning when the ill-fated Kidwai Nagar depot bus coming from Delhi, collided with a truck at Dhati Niwada under Shivrajpur police station.

TWO PERSONS were killed and over 15 injured in a head- on collision between a bus and a truck. The fatal accident took place on Sunday morning when the ill-fated Kidwai Nagar depot bus coming from Delhi, collided with a truck at Dhati Niwada under Shivrajpur police station.

Half-a-dozen critically injured persons were admitted at the emergency ward of LLR hospital whereas others were discharged from a hospital in Shivrajpur after being given first aide. Eyewitnesses said in the accident the driver and the cleaner of the truck also got injured but they managed to escape leaving the truck behind on the road.The passengers who were killed and injured belonged to districts of Kanpur, Kannauj, Auraiya and Mahoba.

One of the deceased was identified by the police as Manoj (10), son of Guru and a resident of Malwikheda, whereas the identity of the another 50-year old deceased could not be ascertained. The injured who were admitted in critical condition at LLR hospital were identified as Sunita (35), Manish (5), Sandhya Tripathi (37), Devendra Verma (26) (driver of the bus), Santosh (40) and Ram Asre (45).

According to information, the accident took place around 5.30 am. The intensity of the collision could be gauged from the fact that after the accident both front wheels of the bus got disassociated and the front part of the bus rammed into the truck.Hearing the passengers’ screams for help, several people of the area came running to rescue the passengers. Soon Shivrajpur police was informed but relief work began only 45 minutes after the incident.Local people took out the injured from the bus but they lay on the road for want of first aid as police took 45 minutes in arranging vehicles to get injured to the community health centre at Shivrajpur.Sources said a 10-year old boy and a 50-year old man were killed on the spot.
