Gashes evident on the head confirmed foul play. The post mortem report received late in the evening, however, confirmed injuries on head, face and the shoulder.
Station officer (SO) Gomti Nagar stated that they were still seeking doctor’s specific opinion about the cause of injuries.
The SO also claimed that attempt to rape the victim has not been mentioned in the report even though the original copy of the report has to be seen before forming any opinion about it.
A message was flashed to all police stations seeking information about any girl missing from any part of the city.
Passers-by called up the control room on seeing the naked body of the girl child lying close to the divider on the road around 9 am. Cops rushed to the scene to find the body with a deep gash on the head and no other injury mark.
CO Gomti Nagar RN Singh said that the girl lying without clothes indicated she was murdered and left in the condition to conceal her identity. She appeared to belong to a low class family, the CO opined.
The police went to nearby slums to inquire if any girl was missing. But, there was no clue.
The SO said that the mystery behind the girl’s death would be unravelled after she is identified.
