65% voting in Junagadh

Highest polling of 56 per cent was recorded in Junagadh LS seat while the lowest, 33% in Dahod seat, said Election Commission.

The official said that the per centage in Kutch was recorded (42), Surendranagar (37), Jamnagar (42), Rajkot (35), Porbandhar (42), Amreli (40), Bhavnagar (35) Dhanduka ST (37), Ahmedabad (41), Gandhinagar (39), Mehsana (40), Patan SC (45), Banskantha (48), Sabarkantha (46), Kapadvanj (43), Godhra (45), Kheda (40), Anand (43), Chhota Udepur ST (40), Vadodara (40), Bharuch (41), Surat (40), Mandvi ST (42) and Valsad ST (43).

Nearly 36824 EVMs were used out of which 27 had technical problems.

Junagadh, Porbandar and Surat constituencies witnessed a significant increase in the voter turnout as compared to 1999 general elections while seats like Mandvi, Valsad, Dahod, Bhavnagar, Surendranagar, Banaskantha, Bharuch and Vadodara saw a conspicuous fall in polling percentage.

Kapadvanj, represented by former Gujarat PCC chief ShankerSinh Vaghela and Sabarkantha represented by his close confidant Madhusudhan Mistry saw a major dip in poll percentage.
