AAP launches membership drive; targets 10 million members by Jan 26

Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) chief and Delhi chief minister Arvind Kejriwal on Friday launched a nationwide membership drive in New Delhi. With a target of getting 10 million members by January 26, the party has waived off membership fee of Rs 10.

Announcing the special drive called ‘Main Bhi Aam Aadmi’, Kejriwal said anyone can become an AAP member.

The party announced a mobile number (7798220033) on which anyone can call and become a member by giving out his name, STD code, and name of Vidhan Sabha he/she belongs to. One can also give a missed call to the mobile number to become a member of the party.

For those who do not have access to mobile phones can go to the party’s offices and get registered by filling up the required form. The party would also launch membership camps in areas where it has not opened an office.

Party leader Gopal Rai, who is in-charge of the special membership drive said, "This is perhaps the first time in the history of India that membership to a party is being opened to public like this. This is our biggest country-wide drive to connect with people before the Lok Sabha polls."
