Yusuf Mohammed Mansuri, Huda senior town planner, met GCC members and said action will be taken against developers if they do not fulfill what they had promised in the layout of their colonies.

"If builders do not follow the directions with regards to providing basic infrastructure in their localities, they will be penalised," he said.

Besides installation of sub-stations, water and sewer connections and building community centres and roads, there are several other pre-requisites that have not been met by builders, even years after rehabilitation of the colonies.

"The town planning department never initiated action against erring builders," said TN Kaul, a member of GCC.

Residents have also expressed concern that the real estate sector was not even following Supreme Court directives.
