Actors leave Boney high and dry
In all likelihood, Milenge Milenge is Shahid Kapoor and Kareena Kapoor’s last film together. Despite that, filmmaker Boney Kapoor’s attempts to get the two actors to promote his movie have gone in vain.Updated: Jul 02, 2010 00:54 IST
The film went on the floors in 2004, when Shahid and Kareena were still seeing each other, and is finally set for a July 9 release. But, Boney has only himself and director Satish Kaushik for company to promote his film.
"Shahid is busy shooting in Scotland, so he will not be able to come. I have also been trying to get in touch with Kareena, but she is also busy and unavailable," says a distraught Boney, adding, "I have maintained that I am okay with them promoting the film separately, but it should be promoted. But, the circumstances are such that it is not possible. So, I am on my own now."
The filmmaker claims that considering that he was the one who started the concept of promotions in the early 80s, it is unfortunate that something like this is happening to him.
“For Pukaar, No Entry and Wanted, we went all over India with lead actors and did grand promotions. I’d have been happy if Shahid and Kareena came forward to promote the film,” he says.
Interestingly, the theme of the film is Live, love, forgive, which is partly also reflective of the things that went wrong between Shahid and Bebo. Boney simply laughs it off: “Well, there are so many days such as Valentine’s Day and all... I think there should be a day for forgiveness, too.”
