Both the BJP and RSS leaders took a grim view of the incidents and discussed the factors responsible for the recent anti-Christian violence in Orissa and Karnataka, sources said. The investigation into Malegaon blast was also discussed and the leaders decided to wait for the evidence the police would put out to substantiate its claim of unearthing a Hindu terror network.

Advani and the RSS leaders were of the view that neither the BJP nor the RSS would back anyone taking law into his or her own hands.

Later talking about sadhvi Pragyasingh Thakur’s arrest, Rajnath Singh denied he had defended anyone. “An organisation with established nationalist character with a record of exemplary social service can never take up the path of terror, whatever may be the provocation,” he said. Even the Bajrang Dal leaders had distanced themselves from those arrested in the Malegaon blast case, he said.
