Accusing BJP leader LK Advani of betraying Hindus when he was in power, the VHP on Friday said he would never regain the confidence of the people for the "betrayal."
"Of course, he (Advani), for that matter BJP, can bring loads of people and Hindus for the proposed Yatra. But it does not mean Hindus are supporting him," VHP International President Ashok Singhal said.
To substantiate his arguments that BJP and Advani have "betrayed" Hindus, Singhal said the party could have fulfilled the "Hindu agenda," when it was in power. Instead,it kept all the issues on the backburner, he said.
"With five States in their hand, they can even now regain the confidence by implementing some points on the Hindu agenda in these States," he said.
"Let them ban cow slaughter, conversion and also introduce Uniform Civil Code, and declare autonomy to temples," Singhal challenged.
Singhal was in Coimbatore on his way to nearby Erode, to take part in the 'Hindu resurgence State conference' on Sunday.
