THE INDIAN Institute of Pulse Research (IIPR) director Masood Ali launched the ad hoc research project on ‘Development of extra-large seed Kabuli chickpea varieties for crop diversification’ at the institute, here on Friday.

Addressing officials present on the launching of the project, Dr Ali said the ad hoc project was sanctioned by the department of agriculture, in cooperation with the Integrated Scheme on Oilseeds, Pulses, Palm oil and Maize (ISOPOM).
He said the project had the total outlay of Rs 129.60 lakh and the target was to be completed in a span of three years. He said the project involved five breeding including IIPR Kanpur, ICRISAT Patancheru, IARI Delhi, PAU Ludhiana and MPAU Rahuri and seven testing centers .
