Akhilesh takes back support

He sent a letter to the Governor through the jail superintendent of Kanpur withdrawing his support. According to him, the support was withdrawn as the State Government has failed to control corruption and check the communal forces.
Besides, Singh sent a letter to the Chief Justice of the Allhabad High court stating about the threat to his life. He stated that if he was murdered, the responsibility would lie on Chief Minister Mulayam Singh Yadav and Public Works Department Minister Shivpal Singh Yadav.
Singh alleged that his frequent transfer from one jail to another might cause the threat to his life during the shifting. Therefore, he requested the Chief Justice that he should not be transferred at night.
Singh also accused the jail authorities of not providing him with the facilities as per the jail manual. He said this was being done as per the directives issued by the State Government.
All-India Handloom Board director Sandeep Singh Thakur who visited Singh in the jail spoke about the situation.
Talking to HT Sandeep said that Singh observed fast yesterday to protest against the ignorance being shown by the Kanpur Jail authorities regarding the various provisions of the jail manual.
According to Sandeeep, Singh was not provided with any attendant for maintaining cleanliness of his barrack and the meal.
Sandeep said Singh had informed him that the morning time milk that was to be served with the breakfast was being served in the afternoon.
However, when Singh observed the fast, the jail authorities assured him of giving all facilities as per the jail manual, Sandeep said.
Earlier, when Sandeep had gone to see Singh in the Jail, he was not being allowed to meet him. However, after pleading with the jail authorities he was allowed to meet Singh, Sandeep added. Members of the Akhil Bharatiya Chhatriya Mahashabha also criticised the treatment being meted out to their leader. The activists of the Mahashbha organised a meeting at Harshahai Degree College in this context on Tuesday.
The leaders of the Shabha said that if jail authorities failed to provide their leader with adequate facilities as per the jail manual, they would oppose it.
