Two other ranges Jhansi and Chitrakoot, which have an equal number of districts and come under Allahabad zone, have registered a lower rate of crime in comparison to Allahabad range in 2006.

A look at the crime records of three years shows that Allahabad range has been on top in nearly all areas of crime in the years 2004 and 2005. The Allahabad zone functions under an IG who looks after three ranges Allahabad, Chitrakoot and Jhansi each under the charge of a deputy inspector general of police.
Chitrakoot and Jhansi are dacoit- infested areas, where cases of kidnapping and dacoity are common, but even these two ranges have fared better than Allahabad which has registered more cases of dacoity and kidnapping in the last three years.

This is the picture of the Allahabad range even though Dadua, nicknamed the Robinhood of Chitrakoot, operates in his own area. The Thokia gang also operates in the same region. These two gangs are involved in dacoity and kidnapping.

Then, there are some lesser-known gangs, which operate on the same lines. But even then the number of crimes committed by them are fewer than those in Allahabad range.

Similarly, Allahabad range tops in murders and cases of thefts.

The range has seen 26 cases of murder and 18 cases of kidnapping this year.
On the other hand, 12 cases of murder and three cases of kidnapping were registered in Chitrakoot this year. Jhansi range has witnessed six cases of murder and an equal number of cases of kidnap. Cases of crime against women are also high in this range.

Twenty-two cases of dowry deaths have been registered. Jhansi and Chitrakoot saw eight cases of dowry death each. The same goes for incidents of theft. As many as sixty-six cases of theft were registered in Allahabad range, 12 in Jhansi and 26 in Chitrakoot.
