An alleged woman ISI agent from Amritsar was on Sunday arrested with Rs 4.8 lakh fake Indian currency, police said.

Savinder Kaur, a widow hailing from Bhawani Nagar area in Amritsar, was arrested by Chandigarh Police from her hometown, they said, adding she was an ISI agent and had visited Pakistan on many occasions in the past as part of religious groups.

Indian currency in the denomination of Rs 1,000 and Rs 500 was seized from her, police said.

She was held following the arrest of kingpin of fake currency racket, Yudhvir Singh, in Chandigarh last week.

Kaur, who was said to have lived in Srinagar in the past, had been booked under various Sections of the IPC and further investigation in the case was on, they added.
