MLA AMARMANI Tripathi is jailed but free to move out of the premises any time he chooses. Inside, he enjoys all luxuries in his quarantine barrack of the Lucknow District Jail. No norms can be applied to him as he travels in red-beacon vehicles and luxury cars.

On Monday, Amarmani reached the KGMU on the pretext of treatment of a severe backache. He was accompanied by don-turned-MLA from Rari, Jaunpur, Dhananjay Singh. The MLA’s cavalcade initially arrived at the MRI centre around 2 pm for a check-up. He, however, returned without a check-up to the Registrar office, from where he went to the superintendent’s office.

A band of orthopaedic experts were summoned to the office and pressed into his service. The MLA stayed there for about half-an-hour and left the hospital around 2.40 pm.

The jail staff was reluctant to talk about the arrival of Tripathi at the jail as they fear his fury. Sources, however, revealed that Tripathi visits his friends and other places frequently. Generally, it is on the pretext of treatment. Recently, he had visited the Dental University seeking medical advice for a dental ailment.

After the recent violence, while other inmates of the jail have been reigned in, Tripathi never needs to seek permission for his movements in or outside the jail.

Significantly, no other undertrial gets permission for medical treatment outside the jail.
