The incident, according to Gamdevi police, occurred around 11 am on Wednesday at the advocate’s residence at flat no 9 on the fourth floor of Breach Candy Garden apartment. The Gamdevi police learnt about it following a call from Lam’s younger sister.

“Two youths, aged between 20-25 years, asked for Lam after one of the maids opened the door. When she told him he was in the bathroom, the duo entered the house and broke a table lamp, a chine clay statue and two showcases that were kept in the hall. In a matter of minutes they fled,” said Sadashiv Patil, Assistant Police Commissioner of Gamdevi division.

By the time, Lam could come out of the bathroom, the accused had already escaped.

Reacting to the incident, Lam said: “I do not know which party or organisation is involved. There could be a possibility of a political party involvement as they they have figured in such attacks in the past. However, I am a democrat and I still stand by my decision to defend Kasab if given a chance to.”
