Another swine flu case in Karnataka, cases rise to 26

With a 26-year-old man testing positive for H1n1 influenza, the total number of confirmed flu cases rose to 26 in Karnataka on Monday, Health officials said.

With a 26-year-old man testing positive for H1n1 influenza, the total number of confirmed flu cases rose to 26 in Karnataka on Monday, Health officials said.

The Indian national had arrived at the international Airport in Bangalore from Bangkok with suspected flu symptoms on July 4.

"His throat culture samples which were sent to National Institute of Virology (NIV), Pune, tested positive for the disease on Monday," the officials told PTI, adding the patient was being treated at Lakeside Hospital.

Out of the 26 confirmed cases, 22 persons had been discharged till date while the remaining were undergoing treatment -- three at Lakeside Hospital and one at the Rajiv Gandhi Institute of Chest Diseases, the officials said.

A total of 265 throat swab samples had been sent to NIV for analysis till date and the number of passengers screened in the state had crossed over 2.09 lakh, they added.
