Health officials expressed satisfaction at the people’s response to the drive claiming that it was successful.

The drive was launched here on May 15 and according to reports, 56.45 lakh children in six districts of Gorakhpur and Basti divisions were vaccinated.

Divisional commissioner Dr Moolchand Yadav appealed to the people to bring their children, who could not be vaccinated during the drive, to the community health centres for vaccination.

According to health department reports, around 40 lakh children were immunised in Gorakhpur district.

In Santkabir Nagar and Siddharth Nagar districts of Basti division, the people’s response was encouraging.

The divisional commissioner appealed to the people to register the name of their wards who have been left due to certain disease.

He further said that the remaining vaccines would be utilised in immunisation of the children in Basti district from June 1 to 15.

The impact of the drive on the people was visible; as they heaved a relief of relief thinking that the vaccination would save the life of their children.

However, child specialist Dr RN Singh advised people to use all the preventive methods including sanitation and fogging in the area to avoid the reoccurrence of the disease.
