Army jawan commits suicide in Jammu

An army jawan allegedly committed suicide by shooting himself with his service rifle in Ratnu-Chuk area in outskirts of the city, third such incident in ten days, police said in Jammu on Tuesday.

An army jawan allegedly committed suicide by shooting himself with his service rifle in Ratnu-Chuk area in outskirts of the city, third such incident in ten days, police said in Jammu on Tuesday.

Sepoy Vibodh Bharti of Tamil Nadu, serving with 85 Armoured Regiment, shot dead himself at Ratnu Chak Military Station in Jammu last night, they said.

Bharti was taken to a military hospital, where he was declared brought dead, they said adding the reason behind him taking the extreme step was not known.

On September 22, an army havaldar had shot dead himself with his service rifle in Sunjwan military station in Jammu city. Another jawan had allegedly committed suicide by consuming poison at Kaluchak quarters in Jammu district on September 20.
