Army porter dies in landmine bast in Rajouri

An army porter died in a landmine explosion near Line of Control in Rajouri district of Jammu and kashmir, police sources said in Jammu on Thursday.

An army porter died in a landmine explosion near Line of Control (LoC) in Rajouri district of Jammu and kashmir, police sources said in Jammu on Thursday.

The landmine exploded when Om Parkash inadvertantly stepped over it near LoC in Seri area of Nowshera tehsil of the border district yesterday, they said adding he died on the spot.

His body was sent to hospital for post-mortem and later handed over to his family members at Dungi Brahamana village in Rajouri, they said.

Meanwhile, police have initiated inquest procoeedings under Section 174 of Criminal Procedure Code.
