A POLICE assistant sub-inspector (ASI) Dinesh Dixit (56) and a local resident of Lala Ka Bazaar here were reported missing — suspected to be kidnapped — from Semariya jungles in Ghatigaon block under Gwalior district since late last night.

Dixit was posted as in-charge of Pariksha check-post of Matabasai police station under Morena district.

He was on leave to supervise harvesting of crop on the land owned by him in Semariya. Inspector General of Police Sanjay Rana said that factual position would be ascertained only on return of the police search team from jungles tomorrow morning.

Rana said that Dixit’s motorbike was found lying on Semariya-Agar-Bombay link road this morning. Dixit’s family members informed the police today after he failed to return home. He was last seen around 6.30 pm last evening by villagers of Semariya, Rana said.
