ASI Gurdev Singh, posted at Phagwara, was on night patrol on March 31, 2013, when he was killed by some goons after he tried to accost them when they had stopped at Haveli restaurant on the national highway between Jalandhar and Phagwara.

Bhola was booked by Phagwara police after he was named by accused Pinda and others during their interrogation. The accused said he had supplied the revolver which was used in the killing of the ASI.

Bhola was produced from Nabha Jail under protection of a police force led by DSP sub division Kapurthala, Mahinder Singh, around 2 pm. The date of the next hearing has been fixed for September 15.
