Like his father Dharmendra, action-hero Sunny Deol was not so lucky at winning awards in spite of giving some good films.

"Today's awards don't focus on good work and talent. Audience appreciation is what matters," said Sunny, who returned to marquee with Naksha after a long gap.

"Everyone knows that I've been unwell for a long time. My back has been a hindrance but I've learnt to live with it. That's why the audience didn't see much of me lately.

"It's my ambition to do good, entertaining and meaningful films."

Right now he is working on a lot of scripts and looking forward to his forthcoming film Apne, which is very close to his heart. Directed by Anil Sharma, the film has all the three Deols - Dharmendra, Sunny and Bobby.

"Apne is about the joint family system. It is about the issues and happenings in a joint family. Some bitterness cropping up in the family doesn't mean that people don't love each other. It has boxing as its backdrop," said Sunny, who has developed an emotional bonding with the film.

And what's next on the cards?

"There's Fool And Final, Kaafila and Challenge coming up."
