A male baby elephant was found dead in Dhenkanal Megha reserve forest, about six km from Dhenkanal in Sunday, official sources said.

Forest personnel stumbled upon the carcass of the four-year-old pachyderm with small tusks inside the reserve forests, they said.

Infighting among the elephants in their herd is suspected to have resulted in the death of the baby tusker. Post-mortem of the elephant had been conducted and inquiry into the incident was continuing, they added.
