The terrorists attacked the police post where five SPOs were posted. The village defence committee members joined the police in an encounter with the police and succeeded in foiling another major terrorists strike in the district. ‘
Two SPO’s Mohmed Fareed and Akhtar Hussian, sons of injured SPO Gul Mohmed, were on duty with their father, along with Mohmmad Farooq and Mohmmad Zamir, when terrorists attacked at about 10pm Thursday night. According to the police the encounter continued till 2am early Friday morning after which the terrorists slipped away.
The Sang police post was established 15-years ago when militancy was at its peak in the area .
Earlier in 1998 militants had massacred 27 people hailing from a minority community in the Prankote area of Udhmapur and in 2006 dissidents had massacred 13 people from Lalon Galla Dhar in Udhampur district.
