Because, US English is loud and clear!
AMERICAN ENGLISH is more suitable to Indians as each syllable are quite pronounced. But, the British swallow them when they speak English. They do not spell out every character of the word and this makes English difficult to understand.
AMERICAN ENGLISH is more suitable to Indians as each syllable are quite pronounced. But, the British swallow them when they speak English.

They do not spell out every character of the word and this makes English difficult to understand.
RS Sharma, the chairman of the All India English Teacher’s Conference, made this observation while speaking to the press on Friday. Also in terms of spellings American English enjoys advantage over British English in more than one ways.
In American English, there is nothing called silent word and the way they pronounce any word they put exactly in the same manner.
Net result: If we write American English, the percentage of writing wrong spelling is minimal. For instance, while writing the word ‘centre’, the British English lays no stress on the vowel ‘e’. But when we write the same word in according to American English, there is a lot of stress on the word ‘r’ as they write it ‘center’, he explained to prove his point.
The former head of English Department, BHU further stated: “American English is more phonetic and there is less repetition of character in a word. Hence, it is easier and simpler to learn and speak out as compare to British English which is decorated with silent word and is not pronounced.”
He underlined the importance of correct usage of English rather than looking for the exact spelling of the words when it comes to writing. He is against those teachers and evaluators who show rigidity while checking copies of the students and deduct marks in plenty for not writing correct English.
Presently, teaching English at Sana’a University, Republic of Yemen, Sharma explained: “In American English there is no doubling of syllable and ‘r’ is distinctively pronounced. And this is quire similar to the English that we speak here in India. So Indians would be better off if they speak American English.”
This professor also attributed a lot of importance on the correct pronunciation of English words especially when it comes to speaking form. “Forget about commoners even many teachers teaching English language and literature in degree colleges do not know how to pronounce certain common English words,” said Sharma during an informal chat with the section of the press.
But, for all that he does not blame the teachers’ fraternity in totality. “It is upto the Academic Staff College (ASC) established by UGC to acquaint teachers about new things and pedagogy that has come in English teaching. They must update knowledge of the teachers through different courses.”
