Asserting that the defeat of the BJP was imminent in the Lok Sabha polls, the Congress on Thursday said that the NDA would disintegrate after elections paving way for stable and secular alternative.
"The alliance parties of the BJP who have been treated as subordinates will desert the sinking ship after the polls on May 10," Congress spokesman Anand Sharma told PTI here.
He said that the disintegration of the NDA will pave the way for a political re-alignment in the country.
"A stable and secular alternative led by Congress will come to power after the Lok Sabha elections," he said.
"The number of seats of BJP and its allies will reduce drastically in the last phase of polling," he said.
Castigating the BJP for "betraying the electorate by failing to fullfil promises made by it in 1999," he said the voters of the country would throw the BJP out of power as the saffron party's rule was marked with scams and scandals.
