Vir Sanghvi’s article Jai Sri Ram, Comrade? (August 29) should serve as a wake-up call to the BJP. The party, instead of alienating its vote-bank by aligning with the Left in opposing the Indo-US nuclear deal, could have strengthened its political position by tacitly supporting the UPA government and emphasising that the Congress was following the policies initiated by it.

Vir Sanghvi is precise while slamming the BJP for its vague posture. A party of such standing must behave with far more maturity. But this so-called brigade of intellectuals has failed to make clear even its stance, let alone its understanding of the nuclear deal. The party is losing credibility with every passing moment.
