Chief Minister Mulayam Singh Yadav said national unity and integrity was in danger. Addressing the Purvanchal Sahityakar-Patrakar Sammelan at Lanka Ground in Ghazipur district on Thursday, the CM called upon journalists to write boldly to save the unity and integrity of the country. He did not, however, elaborate.

“Only literary personalities and journalists could save the country in the prevailing circumstances as it is their writing that could serve the nation in difficult times,” he said.

Expressing concern over migration of people from Eastern UP, the CM said efforts would be made to ensure that the talent of the region did not migrate. The Chief Minister announced that noted literary personalities Kailash Gautam, Kamleshwar and Brijesh Awasthi would be given the Yash Bharati award posthumously. The CM also announced a grant of Rs 10 lakhs for the Patrakar Bhawan in Ghazipur.
