Subhash Yadav, a Class 10 student, hanged himself from the ceiling of his home in Borivli (west).

The boy’s mother had reprimanded him the previous day for going out with friends without informing her.

Subhash had gone to Churchgate with his friends on Monday to see Christmas celebrations. He had not informed anybody and returned home only in the evening.

His mother Ranjana, who was worried, had scolded him severely after he got back home.

According to M Sampatwad, Senior Inspector of MHB police station, Subhash was short-tempered by nature.

“The boy’s mother scolded him like any other mother would do when her young son leaves home without informing her. At that time, the boy did not say a word but he must have felt insulted,” said Sampatwad.

“On Tuesday morning, as soon as the boy’s mother went out for work, Subhash hanged himself,” the inspector added.

When the boy’s mother returned in the afternoon, she found the body of her only son hanging from the ceiling.

She immediately called her neighbour Dr N Navagaon, who declared him dead.
