Eleven firms, including top three telecoms firms in India -- Bharti Airtel, Reliance Communications and Vodafone Essar -- and US chipmaker Qualcomm Inc were bidding for broadband spectrum.

Bids for one set of nationwide wireless broadband spectrum licences in India had totalled 127.75 billion rupees ($2.72 billion) as of Thursday.
