The Border Security Force (BSF) is investigating two fishing boats from Pakistan found abandoned in Indian waters off the Kutch coast.

The Border Security Force (BSF) is investigating two fishing boats from Pakistan found abandoned in Indian waters off the Kutch coast.

The boats were found deserted in Harami Nala area of Kutch district of Gujarat, near the Indo-Pak border on Monday, BSF said in an official statement.

It said the occupants of these Pakistan-origin fishing boats may have fled in other vessels after seeing a patrolling party approaching them in Indian territory.

“They are around 30 feet in length and 5 feet in width and appear to be normal fishing boats”, the statement added.

Pakistani and Indian fishermen straying into the other’s territorial waters are captured by coastal law enforcement agencies. But such incursions are probed more closely since the 26/11 Mumbai attacks in 2008, when terrorists entered the Indian waters in a fishing boat.
