CBI has booked an army major and several personnel of Jammu, Ferozpur, Ambala and Jalandhar military farms in an alleged milk powder scam during 2002-03.
Following a preliminary probe by its officials, the agency on Thursday booked former in-charge of Jammu military farm Major Kuldeep Singh, the farm’s former assistant supervisor Milkhi Ram and other personnel of Ferozpur, Ambala and Jalandhar military farms, CBI said.
The Jammu military farm was required to despatch skimmed milk powder to Ferozpur, Ambala and Jalandhar farms during 2002 and 2003 as per the direction of Western Command.
However, Singh and Ram allegedly indulged in criminal conspiracy with other officials of Ferozpur, Ambala and Jalandhar farms with an intention to misuse their positions, the agency said.
They allegedly manipulated records to show false despatch of the milk powder to Ferozpur, Ambala and Jalandhar farms thereby misappropriating the item and causing wrongful loss to the government, it said.
CBI also accused them of preparing fake documents showing transport of 105 MT of skimmed milk powder worth Rs 67.43 lakh from Jammu military farm to the three farms during the period.
It also said 19 MTs of skimmed milk powder has been shown despatched from the Jammu farm to Ferozpur in vehicles bearing registration No JK02G-7385 and JKR-9313, which turned out to be that of a motorcycle and a scooter.
