Centre blamed for ills plaguing industries...

THE UNION government had not shown any interest for the revival of sick textile mills that consisted of the largest industrial share of the city, even after repeated requests from the State government, alleged State Agriculture Minister Dr Ashok Bajpai, who is also minister in-charge of Kanpur.

THE UNION government had not shown any interest for the revival of sick textile mills that consisted of the largest industrial share of the city, even after repeated requests from the State government, alleged State Agriculture Minister Dr Ashok Bajpai, who is also minister in-charge of Kanpur.

Talking to Hindustan Times, Bajpai expressed annoyance over the Central government for ignoring the State demands. Without uttering any name, Bajpai said, “Local MP and the state minister of the Union government has hardly put any efforts for the revival of sick mills or for the development of industries in Kanpur.

Bajpai assured all possible help on behalf of the State government for the revival of textile mills of Kanpur while meeting with a delegation of the members of the NTC Staff Association here at the circut house.

Besides, the minister asked the leader and general secretary of the association Rajendra Trivedi to plan a visit to Lucknow along with association members soon.

Therefore, a meeting with State textile minister could be organised discuss in detail revival of sick textile mills of the State and also future plan for action by the State government. Bajpai promised that efforts would be made to finalise a programme of holding a meeting with Union Textile Minster Shankar Singh Baghela and the State textile minister besides members of the NTC staff association.
