Charges framed against Bhandari in defamation case

A local court has framed charges against former Sikkim Chief Minister Nar Bahadur Bhandari and five Congress leaders in a defamation case filed against them by Chief Minister Pawan Kumar Chamling's political advisor BB Gurung.

A local court has framed charges against former Sikkim Chief Minister Nar Bahadur Bhandari and five Congress leaders in a defamation case filed against them by Chief Minister Pawan Kumar Chamling's political advisor BB Gurung.

Chief Judicial Magistrate (CJM), Prajwl Khatiwada framed charges against Bhandari and the five persons on Thursday.

In the defamation case filed in the CJM's court on August nine last year, Gurung alleged that the accused persons had used his forged documents and signature for an article in the party's publication 'Congress Sandesh Sikkimma'.

Besides Bhandari, other Congress leaders - SK Bardewa, Purna Kumari Rai, Nirmala Chettri, Anil Lachenpa and JB Darnal were named accused in the defamation case.
