Three days before a massive five day conclave of exiled Tibetans starts in this hill station on November 17, The Dalai Lama on Friday hit out at China accusing it of being totally indifferent to the aspirations of the Tibetans for greater autonomy.
“The Chinese government has totally ignored Tibetan feelings and aspirations by brutally cracking down on them, and forever calling them ‘splitters’ and ‘reactionaries’,” he said.
The Dalai Lama was responding to Chinese criticism of the conclave. A China foreign ministry spokesman earlier warned the Indian government not to permit the conclave aimed at “splitting Chinese territory”.
The 73-year-old Tibetan spiritual leader said the upsurge in Tibet in March this year was the result of policies pursued by the Chinese government.
