CM to be in Meerut today

CM Mulayam Singh Yadav will visit Meerut tomorrow for an on-the-spot assessment of the situation arising out of the incident of massive fire there and offer his condolences to the bereaved families. He has already ordered a high-level inquiry into the incident.

CM Mulayam Singh Yadav will visit Meerut tomorrow for an on-the-spot assessment of the situation arising out of the incident of massive fire there and offer his condolences to the bereaved families. He has already ordered a high-level inquiry into the incident.

At Meerut, he is likely to review the arrangements being made for the treatment of those injured in the incident. Chief Minister has already announced an ex-gratia relief of Rs 2 lakh to those killed in the fire while a sum of Rs 50,000 would be paid to those seriously injured. A sum of Rs 25,000 would be given to those who have sustained minor injuries in the incident.

Various options were being explored to take legal action as the incident happened to be a result of negligence.

Meanwhile, Governor TV Rajeswar has also mourned the death of people in the incident. Governor has prayed for peace for the departed souls and wished speedy recovery to those injured. The Uttar Pradesh Congress Committee (UPCC) president Salman Khurshid has also offered his condolences to the families of those killed.

Meanwhile, a team of doctors from Lucknow, along with an ambulance, has rushed to Meerut. DG, Medical Education, Dr B Nath formed the team. It includes eight doctors from government hospitals of the city. The DGME accompanied the team.
