Commissioner reviews progress

Presiding over a meeting the Commissioner asked the departments to prepare separate budget estimates for permanent and temporary constructions in mela area. Several departments such as Public Works Department presented its plan of Rs 51 crore, UP Power Corporation Limited- Rs 57 crore, Jal Nigam-Rs 36 crore , Irrigation Department-Rs 6.65 crore, Nagar Nigam-Rs 62 crore, Allahabad Development Authority-Rs 2.11 crore, Jal Sansthan-Rs 2 crore, Nagar Panchyat Jhusi-Rs 40 lakh, Parag Dairy-Rs 45 lakh, North Central Zone Cultural Centre-Rs 10 lakh, Transport Department-Rs 11 lakh, Mela Administration-Rs 5.89 lakh, Forest Department-Rs 6 lakh, Ayurvedic and Unani Department-Rs 18 lakh.

He suggested to all the departments to act in accordance with the instructions issued by the state government and not to allow any laxity while carrying out Mela work. He wanted to know as to what action had been taken so far by the respective departments with regard to permanent nature of construction such as Rain Basera, toilets, water management, pollution control and laying of water pipelines in the Mela area. Pure drinking water and basic amenities to various Akahras were the crucial points on which the Commissioner asked the officials to ensure this at any cost.

District Magistrate Amrit Abhijat said that departments whose funds were not released so far should send their reminders to respective ministries. The meeting was attended by Mela Adhikari Pragyan Mishra, Additional Commissioner Sandeep Sharma, SSP Vijay Singh Meena, Municipal Commissioner Gaya Prasad, CMO Dr Singhvi and other officials of different departments.
