Congress alleges links between BJP leader Sidharth Singh and arms dealer
Maharashtra Congress secretary Shehzad Poonawalla on Tuesday wrote to CBI and the Enforcement Directorate demanding a probe into the alleged links between BJP national secretary Sidharth Nath Singh and arms dealer Sanjay Bhandari.
On a day when the BJP targeted Congress president Sonia Gandhi’s son-in-law Robert Vadra for his alleged links with arms dealer Sanjay Bhandari, the Congress returned fire asking for a probe into the “dealing” between Bhandari and a senior BJP functionary.

Maharashtra Congress secretary Shehzad Poonawalla on Tuesday wrote to CBI and the Enforcement Directorate demanding a probe into the alleged links between BJP national secretary Sidharth Nath Singh and Bhandari. Poonawalla claimed that call data records of Bhandari showed that Singh had made 450 calls to Bhandari “within a short span of time”.
Singh said he did not know Bhandari was an arms dealer till the raids (by income tax department on Bhandari’s premises). He also denied the allegations about him making 450 calls to the defence dealer in a short span of time saying that it is “factually incorrect and nowhere near reality”.
“However, I am open to any investigation which is welcome ... Congress party, rather than answering questions on Vadra’s alleged home in London, is dragging my name with him, so as to digress from the main issue. To put the record straight, let me admit I know him socially to the extent that our children have gone to the same school,” Singh said in a statement. The BJP leader accused Congress of dragging his name to “digress” from Robert Vadra issue.
Vadra’s legal firm has denied that he owned the London property directly or indirectly. It also denied that Vadra had any business ties with the arms dealer or his aide.
