Protests were held in Bhopal, Jabalpur, Indore and Guna among major cities.

The Madhya Pradesh police have registered a case against about 150 Congress workers, including Madhya Pradesh Youth Congress president Jeetu Patwari, for hindering official work.

A shutdown was called on Wednesday by the Guna district Congress, the home district of Digvijjay Singh, to mark the protest against the police baton charge on the party workers on Tuesday, in which Singh was injured.

Bhopal Superintendent of Police Jaideep Prasad said the police resorted to the baton charge to disperse the Congress party workers because the demonstrations were held in a prohibited area.
