Cops? latest: Better save our neck first
LUCKNOW COPS are resorting to all sorts of legal procedures to save their skin in the near-fatal attack on Mehar Bhargava. On Monday, the Hazratganj police procured notice for the property attachment of the absconding accused Sachin Pahari. The notice is meant for a period of one month issuing warning to the accused for surrendering in the court within the stipulated time or his property would be attached later.

On Monday, the Hazratganj police procured notice for the property attachment of the absconding accused Sachin Pahari. The notice is meant for a period of one month issuing warning to the accused for surrendering in the court within the stipulated time or his property would be attached later. If the accused did not respond to the notice, the court will issue order to attach his property after a month.
However, now the cops were puzzled about their next course of action, as they have failed to collect details about native address of the accused. Sachin, who had been a close associate of dreaded criminal Vijay Menon, used to live initially at Menon’s Azad Nagar house in Krishna Nagar.
Cases of separate murders registered against Sachin at the Manak Nagar and Aashiana police stations, respectively, in 2002 carried an address of Fauji Colony (Sainik Nagar), Krishnanagar in the police records. His name was mentioned as Abhay alias Ranjit in the police documents. Cases of robbery too were registered at Nigohan Police Station here and at Khuldabad Police Station of Allahabad in 2004 carried the same address of Sainik Nagar.
The same address was mentioned in the records of Jai Narain Inter College where Sachin alias Ranjit used to study in 1998. He is a class XI dropout.
However, Sachin was merely a frequent visitor to this place as he had been staying with his friend Menon at latter’s place since 1996. Sachin’s brother, who used to stay with him, too left this house in 1998.
Sachin started living at Chhitwapur locality in Husainganj along with Menon’s brother Sanjay after Menon was killed in a police encounter one-and-half years back on Faizabad Road here. Sachin had helped Menon running away from the police custody from outside a Lucknow court after shooting a gullible passer-by dead before the encounter.
Sachin and Sanjay Menon had left Chhitwapur after shooting at Mehar Bhargava at Dilip Pur Tower building in Hazratganj on February 28.
However, the cops would paste the property attachment notice at Sachin’s Sainik Nagar house. The cops were trying to trace Sachin’s native address in Pithauragarh now.
