Crush terrorism

Apropos of the editorial Eyeless in Qana (August 1), no doubt human life is more precious than any ideology or philosophy, but Israel is possibly left with little option since the terrorist group uses human shields.

Apropos of the editorial Eyeless in Qana (August 1), no doubt human life is more precious than any ideology or philosophy, but Israel is possibly left with little option since the terrorist group uses human shields. While Israel should have been restrained in its reaction, the question is whether Hezbollah’s offensive would have stopped.

Let’s not forget that Israel not only extends crucial defence knowhow to India but it has also stood by us in times of need. Any resolution or sanctions against Israel would only encourage the Hezbollah.

Don't blame lawyers

I agree with Mahesh Jethmalani in Speaking out of turn (July 31), that the argument raised by Raj Thackeray as absurd. It is unwise to imagine a society without lawyers to safeguard a society’s rights.

The young politician should refrain from making such statements as it shatters the faith of people in the judiciary.

Barbaric doctors

The heinous act of three doctors who maimed persons so they can be pushed into begging by the beggar mafia is condemnable. The doctors should be immediately suspended and their licences cancelled.

Self-service

It is ridiculous that security is being provided to cricketers, cinema stars and businessmen and their families at the cost of taxpayers’ money. Crores of rupees are spent annually for VVIPs security. People of this stature and celebrities should pay for their own security.

Unstately act

Apropos of the editorial Princely state (August 1), crores of Indians prayed for the safety of Prince who was rescued by the army. But the Haryana government’s promise of monetary compensation will set a bad precedent. Such practices gloss over civic negligence.
