Anna Meares wins gold for Australia. Current world record holder Anna Meares of Australia has won the gold medal in the Women’s 500m time trial, ahead of Commonwealth Games record holder and sister Kerry Meares who claimed the bronze.

Victoria Pendleton of England claimed the silver medal.

Anna’s gold medal ride of 34.326 set a new Commonwealth Games record, ahead of Victoria Pendleton’s time of 34.662 and Kerry Meares time of 35.210.

This is Anna’s first gold medal at a Commonwealth Games, after winning bronze in the Sprint and fourth place in the time trial at Manchester in 2002.
