Dalits clash with police, over dozens hurt

Over a dozen policemen, including an Additional Superintendent of police, were injured in a clash with Dalits over detention during an anti-encroachement on government land at a village near Etawah.

Over a dozen policemen, including an Additional Superintendent of police, were injured in a clash with Dalits over detention during an anti-encroachement on government land at a village near Etawah.

The clash took place on Sunday afternoon when a team of police and district administration reached village Sarai Dayatnagar when angry villager pelted stones injuring over a dozne policemen including an ASP.

The police fired tear gas shells to disperse the mob.

Police had yesterday detained three persons who were forcibly freed by the villagers from SSP's residence for their involvement in land-grabbing.

Tension prevailed in the village where police were deployed in strength to prevent further violence.
