Development plank to blunt saffron attack

The saffron brigade had faced defeat in the Zila Panchayat chairperson?s election during which Hindutva and development were the two main points on the manifesto of BJP MP Yogi Adityanath.

The saffron brigade had faced defeat in the Zila Panchayat chairperson’s election during which Hindutva and development were the two main points on the manifesto of BJP MP Yogi Adityanath.

The CM will lay the foundation stones of various projects, which according to Samajwadi Party leaders will pave the way for development of the district.  With this, the CM may try to position himself as ‘Vikas Purush’ (man committed to development).

Ever since the SP Government came to power, Opposition parties have accused it of a discriminatory attitude towards eastern UP in allocation of funds for development works.

At one stage, people of the region were disillusioned with the SP and Opposition parties were consolidating their position. BJP MP Adityanath remained on the offensive against the SP Government. In the recently concluded Zila Panchayat chairperson’s election, all political parties had joined hands under the leadership of Yogi Adityanath to try to defeat the SP candidate, but they failed in their objective. 

The chief minister will inaugurate a 440 KVA power sub-station at Motiram Adda, which has taken 15 years to complete from the date of its inception. The foundation stone for the power substation was laid in 1991 and it was to be completed within three years, but successive governments stopped funding the project.

Similarly, the planetarium at Ramgarh Tal was to be completed within two years of its inception. The foundation stone of the long awaited planetarium was laid in 1991 and the estimated cost was around Rs.6.28 crore, but it was completed for Rs 20 crore after 15 years. The chief minister will inaugurate the planetarium on January 23.

The dharmashala overbridge will be inaugurated by the chief minister on the same day. Construction of the bridge was started in 2002 and the Bridge Corporation of India had estimated Rs1.01 crore investment. It was to be completed within one year.

Japanese Encephalitis has become a yearly feature in eastern UP. The dreaded disease plays havoc every year with the life of people since the last 26 years. But, Mulayam Singh Yadav will be the first chief minister to take a concrete step to check outbreak of the disease when he lays the foundation stone of a research centre at BRD Medical College.
