Officials said the woman had been admitted on Thursday to the hospital where doctors had informed her of a normal delivery but later said she would need a cesarean operation.

All arrangments were made to perform this operation but around four in the evening yesterday, doctors found out that the woman was HIV positive.

Stating that she was a high-risk patient, they refused to do perform the operation and she was shifted to a private hospital in the city.

But from Sehore, the woman was taken in a government ambulance to Hamidia hospital in Bhopal where her delivery was performed successfully.

Senior doctors at the district hospital have written about the incident to the State Health Commissioner to seek an inquiry into the incident.
