Subscribers of mobile Reliance Service on Tuesday received SMS from the Election Commission stating "Please exercise your right to Vote - Election Commission".

The contestants of the main parties in the fray - Congress, BJP and Asom Gana Parishad (AGP) - too went hi-tech using SMS, internet, television channels to carry their messages to the voters.

The unprecedented incessant rains for the last 20 days confining the candidates indoors across the state, prompted them to resort to the novel ways of campaigning in a bid to reach their electors.
