Elton Chigumbura made his first-class debut for Mashonaland in the Logan Cup at the age of only 15.
He is a product of the ZCU development programme and is a protégé of coach Stephen Mangongo.
He has represented Zimbabwe in two Under-19 World Cups. His most memorable performance is when he took four wickets in the Zimbabwe’s sensational victory over Australia in the Under-19 World Cup in Bangladesh.
Barely two Tests old, he has a strike rate of 47.27 while in ODIs his strike rate records stand at 82.60 in 6 matches.
For the year 2004, he has been selected member of the CFX Academy. He also backs up as a part-time off-spin bowler and as a batsman he is known to be good on the cut and pull.
