Asha Devi said the conference had been organised to mark the death anniversary of Guru Majnu. She said several issues related to eunuchs would be discussed in the conference. She expressed concern that unsocial element could disturb the conference and demanded adequate security at the venue of the conference.
Responding to a question, Asha Devi said, “We are eunuchs. We would dance and celebrate the occasion for five days.” She admitted that the eunuch community had been sidelined from the mainstream of the society and the government had no plan for bringing a change in their status.
Since early morning on Wednesday, participants started reaching the venue by three wheelers and costly cars like Quails and Boleros. A huge pandal was erected at the site where Asha Devi was seen welcoming each of the participants by their name.
