Farmers protest land acquisition

A memorandum addressed to the President of India was also handed over to the commissioner, demanding the immediate halt of ADA work in Naini area. Dr Joshi said that if the ADA work was not stopped, families of hundreds of farmers, dependent on floriculture and vegetable crops would be on verge of starvation.

Congress Party would not tolerate unjustified action of ADA, said the Women Congress leader.

She charged the Chief Minister with harassing the farmers through his dual policies. She said taking possession of land without giving notice to farmers was against the law.
